Properties worth millions of Naira were lost to the fire. A beverage store was raised down, drinks worth drinking were lost. house hold properties and valuables were lost. Speaking to neighbors, it was suspected that the fire outbreak was caused by a spark from a high tension electricity pole.  To God be the glory no life was lost, but survivors were diverstated by the incident as many claimed that the rain fall of the early hours of 1:43am - 2:38am on Tuesday contributed to cause of the fire. Many believe that the incident is not ordinary considering the fact that just one part of the building was burnt down while the other part of the building was untouched. Non seems to know the true cause of the outbreak at the moment.

Donald Trump said he sat with Putin because Japan's First Lady doesn't speak English, but she does

'I enjoyed the evening with her, and she’s really a lovely woman' Japanese first lady Akie Abe  REUTERS Donald Trump  appears to have been ignored by the Japanese first lady at the final dinner at the G20 summit in Hamburg. Asked by  The New York Times   about his secret second meeting with Vladimir Putin, the US President explained that Aki Abe “doesn’t speak any English”. Pressed further he said: “Like, not ‘hello’. He added that it was hard because the dinner was “probably an hour and 45 minutes". He said that he thought her husband, Shinzo Abe was “a great guy” and that there had been a Japanese interpreter because “otherwise it would have been even tougher.” He added: “But I enjoyed the evening with her, and she’s really a lovely woman, and I enjoyed — the whole thing was good.” However, Ms Abe, the daughter of a wealthy Japanese family, attended the Sacred Heart School, a private Roman Catholic international school in Tokyo before she atte...

Seventy-Two Years Later, Japan Remembers the End of a Devastating War

Image
August 15 marked the 72nd anniversary of the end of the Second World War. On the occasion, Japan remembered the 2.3 million Japanese military personnel and military employees and 800,000 Japanese civilians who died between the start of the  Second Sino-Japanese War in 1937  and the end of World War II in 1945. Japan's annual commemoration of the end of the war shows that, seven decades on, there is no clear political consensus in Japan about how to remember the war. Some remember the 3.1 million dead while seeming to avoid the context of the war in which they died, while others are committed to preserving the memory of how destructive war can be, and the need for Japan to continue to embrace pacifism. More than 6,200 people attended a memorial service at the  Nippon Budokan  sports arena in Tokyo, which featured remarks by Prime Minister Abe Shinzo and Japanese Emperor Akihito.  Abe's words  were notable i...

BBC's Sebastian Gorka interview prompts disbelief as national security adviser says US will be ready to act

Image
'When a group of people repeatedly say that they want to kill you sooner or later you should take them seriously'  One of Donald Trump's national security advisers gave a "terrifying" interview on British radio, prompting disbelief among listeners.  Sebastian Gorka, the deputy assistant to the US President, told Radio 4's Today programme that the threats from North Korea should be taken "seriously" and that there should be no doubts about the Trump's administration "decisiveness" when time will come to act.  A hardliner in the White House, Mr Gorka also dismissed the idea that  Secretary of State Rex Tillerson would discuss military matters with North Korea  as "nonsensical".  He made the comments after Mr Tillerson sought to downplay the escalating diplomatic crisis by saying Americans "should sleep well at night" and seemed to suggest there still was the possibility of dialogue between the two countrie...

U.S White House Insists 17-Day Break Is 'Not a Vacation For Trump.

Image
US President Donald Trump is now two days into his first extended holiday after six tumultuous months at the White House, insisting that he is still working on matters of state. From his private golf club in New Jersey, the real-estate magnate turned politician has denied that he is taking a break from the onerous duties of running the country. His departure from Washington was criticised by former Mexican president Vicente Fox who said he should leave his job if he is unhappy. Mr Trump fired back, tweeting: “Working in Bedminster, N.J., as long planned construction is being done at the White House. This is not a vacation - meetings and calls!” A White House spokesman echoed this, stating that the president would be holding talks with his aides and other statesmen. However, the source would not acknowledge whether Mr Trump was playing golf, according to  ABC news . Accompanying the president at the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster were his son-in-law  Jared ...

‘You Can Lock Up Our Bodies, But Not Our Minds': Hong Kong Court Sends 16 Activists to Prison

Image
Nearly three years after mass pro-democracy demonstrations rocked the city of Hong Kong, 16 young activists were convicted on August 16 of unlawful assembly for their participation in two separate protests challenging the government. Though the activists were originally convicted and sentenced to community service and suspended jail time, the Department of Justice later filed a re-sentencing appeal, arguing that the original sentences for the activists were “too light”. This week, Hong Kong's Court of Appeal ruled in their favor. Many within Hong Kong's pro-democracy civic sector see the ruling as a politically motivated move that pushes the city  towards a judicial culture  that errs on the side of power over rights. The first case involves 13 defendants including League of Social Democrats (LSD) Vice-Chairman Raphael Wong, Land Justice League convener Willis Ho, and activist Billy Chiu who in 2014 demonstrated to stop the government’s funding ...

Inside R. Kelly's Most Shocking Scandals Over the Years, None of Which Derailed His Success in Any Perceivable Way

Image
On Aug. 31, 1994,  R. Kelly  married  Aaliyah  at a hotel in Rosemont, Ill. He was 27. She was 15, but the marriage certificate falsely listed her age as 18. The union was annulled months later. At the 1994 Billboard Music Awards that December, R. Kelly called Aaliyah, whom he had first met when she was 12, his "best friend in the whole, wide world." In 1998, R. Kelly won three Grammys for "I Believe I Can Fly," to date his most successful single. His questionable relationship with Aaliyah relegated to an asterisk at the time and not altogether widely known outside of the industry and hardcore R&B enthusiasts, the Recording Academy heartily rewarded the "Bump N Grind" singer for his Space Jam anthem—and continued to recognize him with 19 more nominations between then and 2015. Devoted fans continued to buy albums and go to concerts, while casual listeners popped in whenever a hit such as the infectious "Igniti...

The stunning transformation of Chelsea Clinton

Image
Hillary Clinton becoming President of the United States would have given daughter Chelsea Clinton the unique honor of being the First Child for a second time. Alas, that opportunity never came to fruition, but if it did, she'd have been following in the serious style footsteps of Malia and Sasha Obama (unsurprising, considering they have Michelle as their fashion role model). Over the years, Clinton No. 3 slowly but surely came into her own fashion sense, blossoming from an early loungewear enthusiast, into a woman who makes pretty solid sartorial selections. Here's the style transformation of Chelsea Clinton, from childhood until today. Read More: http://www.thelist.com/24325/style-transformation-chelsea-clinton/s/image-11875/?utm_campaign=clip

If you've ever gone to battle with back pain, you know it can knock you out and sideline you from life until the pain subsides. Back pain is no joke, and even if you're one of the lucky few who has skated through life without so much as a twinge, your time may be a comin'. According to the American Chiropractic Association, it's estimated that 80 percent of the adult population will deal with back pain at some point in their lives. So, yay! Get ready for that. I, for one, am no stranger to the pain. After getting in a car wreck at 21, I've been plagued with chronic low back pain that ebbs and flows with time, but never completely subsides. The only good thing to come from my distress is that I've tried just about every trick in the book to handle the pain, and while I have a slew of go-to remedies that can help in a pinch, the best solution I've found is to maintain a regular yoga practice. Katie Brauer, a TedX speaker and Master Yogi explains, ...
