Suri Cruise Is All Grown Up As She Has Mom/Daughter Day With Katie Holmes In NYC

Suri Cruise looked every inch the fashionista as she stepped out with her mother Katie Holmes in New York City on Thursday. 
The 11-year-old – who Katie Holmes shares with ex-husband Tom Cruise – looked the spitting image of her famous parents, as she enjoyed a day out with her mom in an adorable outfit. 
Suri sported a polka dot yellow dress, which she paired with colorful pink pumps with cute green bows. She finished her looked with a huge pink statement bow hair clip. Just like her mommy she carried her own handbag.

Katie, 38, looked typically chic in a cream sweater and slim-fit jeans. She injected a pop of colour with red sandals and over-sized shades.
The former Dawson’s Creek star went make-up free as she pulled her long brunette hair into an easy top knot. 
The mom/daughter outing came a few days after the actress gushed about her little girl during an interview on The Today Show. 

She enthused: ‘She is 11½, she’s a great girl and she is doing so well,’ the Pieces of April actress said. ‘I’m enjoying this time. I’m not so worried yet about the teenage years.’

Seventy-Two Years Later, Japan Remembers the End of a Devastating War

August 15 marked the 72nd anniversary of the end of the Second World War. On the occasion, Japan remembered the 2.3 million Japanese military personnel and military employees and 800,000 Japanese civilians who died between the start of the  Second Sino-Japanese War in 1937  and the end of World War II in 1945. Japan's annual commemoration of the end of the war shows that, seven decades on, there is no clear political consensus in Japan about how to remember the war. Some remember the 3.1 million dead while seeming to avoid the context of the war in which they died, while others are committed to preserving the memory of how destructive war can be, and the need for Japan to continue to embrace pacifism.
