Trump slams 'most dishonest fake news I've ever seen' as approval ratings plummet
Donald Trump lashed out at the “dishonest” media as he returned from a 17-day vacation at his golf club in New Jersey, during which his administration lurched from one crisis to another.
The beleaguered president, who removed his chief strategist Steve Bannon last week, has seen his approval ratings fall even further in the wake of his response to the Charlottesville white supremacist rally.
Trump tweeted: “Heading back to Washington after working hard and watching some of the worst and most dishonest Fake News reporting I have ever seen!”
His return comes as his job-approval ratings fell below 40 per cent in three key Rust Belt states that helped win him the election
In Michigan, 36 per cent of voters said they approve of the president’s job performance, while 55 percent said they disapprove, according to the NBC News/Marist poll.

In Pennsylvania, 35 per cent said they approve of him, while 54 per cent said they disapprove; in Wisconsin, 34 per cent approve and 56 per cent disapprove.
The polls were conducted on August 13, the day after Trump failed to condemn white supremacists at a rally in Virginia.
Earlier in the month, Trump claimed his base is “getting stronger”, despite negative polling.
At the beginning of August, his approval ratings fell to 37 per cent, according to an aggregate of polls, while his disapproval rating rose to 57.2 per cent.
